I was there when stress test began. As expected servers couldn't handle the huge stream of people trying to log in at the same time.
They worked hard and after a few hours (and the necessary frustrations) I managed to get into the game. And man... the gameplay is smooth, the looks are awesome, the atmosphere, the soundsscape... yeah this game will be the game I will get highly addicted too for sure.

Sadly you cannot enter the beta weekends(which are like once a month or so) without pre-purchase.

Diablo III hasn't really me impressed me yet so far, didn't even bother with the beta weekend.

Might try Guild Wars II's beta weekend though, if it's possible to get in without a pre-purchased version.
Any idea which server you're going to be on already? I haven't looked into the game much yet, at all, besides the available classes and stuff. Would be fun to run into some old EoLers in GW2's beta weekend.

I have done Diablo 3 during the open beta weekend. It is a fun game and will certainly be added to my collection, I was a huge fan of Diablo 2, though it won't occupy me as much as any MMORPG would do. I am after all looking for a Roleplay Game.

Two mouses gave up on me during League of Legends a while ago, the frustrations in that game build up so high... it was better for me to stop or I would have popped some veins.

I tried SWTOR, got bored quite fast of it. Did manage to get my own spaceship and speeder but, meh... it was not for me. Even though I am a Star Wars fan.

This weekend GW2beta, I probably won't sleep allot.

I really disliked the original Guild Wars so probably won't even try.

I'll just play DiabloIII and some casual League of Legends.
Think I'd rather return to WoW than try Guild Wars 2.

Lolmane!

Oh and Hello!

What Fero said was right, I quit actively playing after TBC, there's been a very brief period in Wrath where I did play active again and with the launch of Cata I've played quite hardcore for a while on Argent Dawn, which had some really fun moments I suppose.

Once I logged in and got the 7 year anniversary achievement I decided it was definatly enough, all I've been doing for years with the exception of those two short periods is hang around and waste time on WoW.

I'm too busy in life now to bother with WoW anymore so my subscription is cancelled aswell.

The game has both been an incredible waste of time aswell as a way in which I got to know some of the most awesome people that have been and are in my life though! <3

Wishing you all the best once again! : D

I'm actually not that hyped about Battleground and stuff, server against server and instanced stuff is something I find kind of unneccesary.
Why can't we all be in one big immersed world where we combat for -that- specific world? Isn't that the point of an MMO.. the -MASSIVE- part?
I guess this all kind of depends on how they approach it, the questing / phasing mixture looked quite nice at first glance at least.. perhaps there's similar World PvP that actually works.
(As in, not the Hellfire Peninsula kind in WoW that nobody ever bothered with and was hardly worth calling PvP.)

And the "automatically be the level of your buddy during questing" is ehm.. kind of limited.
Some other MMO had it, but it really didn't scale you up that well, you'd still suck. (Does help for aggro range and stuff though, possibly nice for RP.)

I do have to agree the PvP seems a lot more.. interactive? Since you have to aim more.
Wouldn't neccesarily call it more tactical, I did like the catapult I saw and how it's used to alter the battle. But other than that it seems a rather basic "Capture the point" or "Kill the enemy" kind of deal.

And the fact you only have to purchase it once, without any lame "but", is of course brilliant.

Ow, and I don't really feel like my time in WoW is wasted now, since I already quite it ages ago.
It's more compareable to EA's methods, who has a tendency to pull the plug on projects after a few years.
Just that with Blizzard you know you can expect cheap marketing crap, very few quality content updates compared to the massive playerbase and other lame moves that disregard the non-retarded or semi-hardcore players.

I'm actually not sure if Ruzzle is still playing, I think he quit actually playing actively ages ago. No clue if he still hops by Argent Dawn or whatever.

Going to definitly keep my eyes on Guild Wars 2, it looks very interesting.
This might be the first actual "WoW killer" in a way, as it doesn't seem so ridicilously similar, they don't appear affraid to take a different approach than the "great" rolemodel of this time.
(The one where you can do quests blindly, everything is static and you only make use of hotkeys that automatically aim for you. Kind of bored with that stuff.)

Hey Liesje!

CUTE, another baby!
What is his name?

A reunion seems nice, though how many others are interested? Larger group equals more fun!

HEY! Fero! How you are you doing? Ruzzle still playing?

I know what you mean by boycotting Blizzard. I bet many Ex-WoW players feel they are screwed in the ass for paying a game that only got worse.

SWTOR does not seem fun at all. It is a huge world. RP will be all about; "I am the greatest Jedi!" or "I am the great great great grandfather of Darth Vader". To many wanabees in the SW scene. Ofcourse you can block them and all but how many do you have to ignore untill RP becomes a drag. Other then that same old crap you find in other games.

The more I read about GW2 the more excited I get. The whole fact that everyone on your server fights for the same goal. World PvP is all about how strong you are as a server, since you fight against 2 other servers. I believe it is more about taking villages, thus taking areas, and defending them. +!!

Battlegrounds are implemented but they are seperate to the Realm servers. Battlegrounds can be done at any level and you can choose to start at max level with max gear. This making Battlegrounds alot more balanced. Also these battlegrounds are alot more strategic based then WoW. +!!

PvE with a friend who is way lower level? No problem... You will scale down according to the area where you and your lower level friend are questing. Meaning no more high levels killing everything in your way leaving you wondering; "Wtf just happend!" Thats another +!!

Thats 3 +!! for me, so thats for sure worth a try.

Oh another +!! The world looks AWESOME, they grab the right atmosphere which is important... music suits perfectly. And just for the heck of it... +!! You buy it once... no Pay to Play, or SHOP!

Makes 5 +!! Mhm, need to have. Compared to all the other games I have seen, this is simply the best one to come.

Anyways, I got my exciety level way to high again.

Ah well, this got way longer then I anticipated so better get back to work.

Greetz!

Hey Myra and hey Liesje of course,

I've actually been looking out for a new MMO to get into myself for ages, but none seems to be truly worth the time investment whatsoever.
Tried some free to play ones briefly like LotRO, Age of Conan, Champions Online and as you know Merke and I tried Aion for a while after WoW.

I do check for RP myself in most games, which I did manage to find, but usually it's hardly worth mentioning or consists of tiny shattered communities with little to no support from the company behind the game.
(LotR Online has a retarded instancing system for example, Age of Conan has had it's RP servers removed / merged, etc.)

I have been checking out the GamesCon footage from TotalBiscuit (Youtube channel TotalHalibut) which features quite some footage of the new MMOs coming out.

At first Star Wars TOR seemed very promising, but by now I am already seeing it as a dull WoW clone with an overhyped storyline aspect and far too much press attention being given to voiceacting.
The gameplay is exactly like WoW, the graphics aren't impressive in my eyes whatsoever.. all more of the same really.
Tera Online looked very interesting combat-wise, a hack and slash game MMO basicly, but if you look at the races you'll just facepalm.
They have a bloody anime catgirl as a main player-selectable race........... I just didn't like the looks of the game whatsoever, another far too asian orientated MMO for me.

Now Guild Wars 2 I am fairly impressed with so far, it's not a hack and slash gameplay style.. but it very nicely mixes traditional hotkey gameplay merged with conal attacks and such so that you have to aim some.
And the looks, classes, dynamic world and such all don't look badly worked out at all.
(At least they do not give me the impression of being silly instanced or phased little features, but actually smoothly implemented aspects of the game. Not like SWTOR and their "Take Cover" feature, which seemed rather gimmicky and tedious to me.. not next-gen whatsoever. Or how WoW views "dynamic and groundbreaking" features. I absolutely hope Guild Wars 2 will introduce actual World PvP as well, not simply BGs and a queue towards an instanced zone.)

So yeah, right now I have not a clue if I am actually getting back into the MMO scene.
If I do it'll most likely be Guild Wars 2 or nothing at all for a very long time. Diablo III has also majorly disappointed me with Blizzard's ridicilous marketing attitude, to an extend whether I'd rather not bother buying their games.
I'll most definitly skip Mists of Pandaria and any Blizzard title for the time being. So you won't see me return to WoW for sure, unless somekind of miracle happens.
The MOBA (DotA, LoL, HoN) free to play environment has kept me rather entertained.

Although if I do get into Guild Wars 2 I would definitly not mind meeting up with old EoL members again.
Sorry for the rather lengthy rant.

See you guys around, possibly. /shrug

We're all doing fine. Lynn is 3,5 now and has a little brother of 6 months.
I'm still playing, currently on a social / benched trial spot in Aftermath and Feli is levelling his mage so we can play together again. Seeing as I'm horde now the pink gnome has become a redhaired goblin wink

I'm all in favour of a reunion, we've had several guildmeetings already the past years and more can come.
Me and some of the Dutch gang regularly get together for social funsies. I live in Vleuten nowadays, so you should definitely drop by some time.

Ciao!
