Rules changes per 15-10-2007

As of today we're implementing some changes to the loot system and associated rules. These changes have been discussed extensively, so it will most likely not come as a surprise to many.

Before I start I would like to thank you all for your excellent and productive feedback on these issues. I would like to stress that your input is valued and welcome. We appreciate further well constructed and coherent feedback. However, a complicated statistical system like this can't be fully evaluated in the short time that we gave the previous rule set. Hence from this point we need to give this system a chance for an extended period to see how it performs.

That having been said; As of today, Monday 15-10-2007, the following changes are coming into effect.

New rules
- Initiates are no longer allowed to need roll on items in 25-man raid instances unless no full member needs the item.
- The penalty for being late (not online or AFK during the 15-minute raid invite window without adequate notice) is being changed to losing the right to roll for items during that raid.
- The penalty for missing a raid without adequate notice is changed to losing the right to roll for items for three raids.
- If for some reason a person with either of the above penalties still gets an item during a 25-man raid (because there is no other person who needs it) that person's right to roll is withdrawn for an additional raid.

Penalties can be mitigated by adequate notice up-front and will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Officer loot
The officer loot system is being largely gutted. As of today there will be 1 main tank and 1 main healer. These people should not share tokens.

Right now the lineup is:
- Warrior Main Tank: Ethoz
- Paladin/Shaman Main Healer: Felidra

Any item that is a large upgrade for these people can be claimed by that person as officer loot. Officer loot will be decided upon by the raid leader and any council members present and only be used if an item represents a significant upgrade. If an item is officer looted the person involved will still use luck points as normal. Officer loot is something that should be used rarely and raid leaders are advised to err on the side of not using it.

Luck points

In an effort to make the LP worth more and have more impact for people we're halving the effect of people's rolls on the loot determination. This change is implemented as a doubling of the current Luck Points.

In a further attempt to prevent people who hit the maximum from losing rolls against people who just gained items or just joined we are upping the max LP slightly.

As of now the numbers are changed to the following:
- LP gain per drop: 2
- LP loss per win: 60
- LP cap: 120
- Current points are multiplied by 2.

Loot distribution rules
For raid leaders, the following guidelines will be used when determining who can roll.
1) Gear goes to needers in their primary role first.
2) Gear goes to to needers in the same armor category as the item itself second.
3) Gear goes to needers who make the best use of the stats on an item third. A good example here would be spirit on healing gear; Priests and Druids have dibs on healing gear with spirit over Paladins and Shamans. Conversely, Paladins have additional use for spell crit rating on healing gear and have dibs on this.
Feel free to point out additional examples to the officers; The master looter does not always know what stats are usefull for what classes.
4) Gear goes to needers who get large upgrades from a drop and who are felt to be significant contributers as per the raid leader's discretion.
