It is Arlynn, as melee you never have a chance for more than 5-6 seconds to stand and nuke at any point in the fight ... bloody good fun anyways though

Wait until you see how much moving around you have to do. As a Warlock (Affli especially) it's not much of a big deal. But for Ras and myself, it's brutal to our dps. We don't get to stand still and nuke for very long - but that is part of the fight's charm, for me. Seeing how well I can do when the fight is intentionally designed to destroy my dps.

I went against Prof Destructo and Affliction.. it wasn't too bad.. I'd rather that then the poor Retri/Rogues etc that have to move to target rather than Chargelol etc.
Tuskarrs I think for this?
Edit: While I'm on it to clarrify some things Affliction can't run on the move and ROFLDPS.. we got two insta-casts used in our actual rotation.. one gets refreshed constantly. The other has a 24 second duration.. we gotta stand still too..
EditEdit: Ele Shaman is like Destructo Warlock.. just with totems and tentacles.
Ele-Shaman - Flame Shock (Fire DoT), Lava Lash (Fire Direct usable only when (Fire DoT is up), Chain L (Cooldown based hard hitting), Lightning Bolt Spam (Standard spam spell)
Destruction Warlock -Immolate (Fire DoT), Conflag (Fire Direct usable only when (Fire DoT is up), Chaos Bolt (Cooldown based hard hitting), Incinerate Spam (Standard spam spell)

Can't slam at all on the move, totally screws with your priorities, then again that's part of what makes the fight fun trying to adapt to it. Do lose quite a few TfB and Sud death procs at times as well which stings. Fair play though its a pretty useful spec on the adds.

Well whatever the specific mechanics for each class, the fight is really very interesting. It'll be good to get some logs of damage done to the oozes once we get some propper controlled atempts in. Some specs or rotations could be changed to allow more burst, but balancing that with the sustained damage required to beat phase 3 will be a challenge.
Incidentally, I think we fucked up our phase 3 strategy, the AoE from the tank's debuff increases exponentially with extra stacks, not additively, so we should be swapping tanks every time the debuff is cast in order to keep the raid-wide damage minimal.

That explains the nagging doubt i constantly had that we where doing the tank rotations wrong then.
One other idea would be if a tauntable class - who has the health to take a hit - can potentially add a little to the timer, extending the amount of time before the overall raid damage becomes unhealable, if he is snuck in to the tank rotation to absorb one of the stacks at around the 3 stack mark. Just have to be damn sharp on taunting off him and then back into the normal tank rotation.

A Balance Druid could easily do that by refreshing DoTs, running to max range and then taunting from Bear Form. If a tank can't grab the aggro back by the time the boss has run 36 yards, there's something wrong
@ Arlynn: Chain Lightning doesn't hit as hard as you think and in most cases it's a dps loss to use it. It requires a certain amount of haste to actually be worth using and even then the dps increase is incremental at best. Comparing it to Chaos Bolt is like me comparing Starfire to Searing Pain.

First of all, its lava burst, not lava lash fool
Second, you are a CORE class - you get an unseen buff of 10% damage...all core classes do.

I'm assuming this part is a joke too? But tbh it sounds like something Blizz would give into after enough QQ.. any links/credible info on this..?

It's a quote from GC idd, one that he took back later, since really, looking at the DPS meters, it's rarely ever so static, nor has it been in any patch I've ever seen.
Still, that's how it should be though...

So many people misquoting Ghostcrawler...
What he actually said was, at equal levels of gear and skill core dps classes (Magi, Warlocks, Hunters, Rogues) should outdps non-core dps specs (Balance/Feral Druids, non-tank Death Knights, Arms/Fury Warriors, Retribution Paladins, Shadow Priests, Elemental/Enhancement Shaman) by a margin of 5-10%. However, he did also very clearly state that if the hybrid/specialist dps is a better player than you, or is vastly more geared, then it's fine for them to outdps cores. This is why they're not rushing in with buffs everytime a Feral Druid gets 8k dps on a boss. They look at the information provided and determine that the cores are either poorly geared, suck ass, or both.

Somewhat redundant in my perspective, but hey, you're right there though.
I gotta run now, and can't find the quote where he stated it's not reflected on the live realms now, so I've gotta do it with this one;
Ghostcrawler wrote: | If you know your class cold, I mean really know it, then there is no reason you can't be topping meters. But some (key word) of that responsibility lies with you and not with us juicing the numbers in your favor. |
I think he's refering to Shammies as much as Doomkin's here...
But please, most of the discussion lately evolve around "mah class is harder to play", "but I have a harder time due to burden A or B"...
It's seldom constructive, and I think you said this yourself; it can be percieved as quite offensive (as we've seen happen more then once in the last few weeks).
The non-raiding gnome.
