Not quite lord of the rings (but then... lord of the rings wasnt quite lord of the rings either was it..) but i guess what im saying is readers of the ring trilogy were happy enough with what they got to see on screen, readers of the dark materials books will come away with a healthy meh.. but a meh none the same.

as a "movie" it works well though.
