In any situation on those bosses heroic strike is far better, cleave just doesnt hit hard enough, and costs too much rage to make it good.

If you DPSing the adds on the boss fights then surely glyphing for an extra hit and speccing it for +120% damage is better than hitting 1 add with HS?

if you want to be rage starved, waste 3 talent points and a major glyph, only to overaggro and die then yes go all out on aoe with cleave
or if focus down the target you are supposed to and have the rage to actualy pull great dps on single targets too I'd really suggest you stay away from cleave

Simple answer is you do whichever takes the adds down faster. If you overaggro with cleaves then god help the mages and locks in the raid, that's a matter for the tanks in that case.
It really depends IMO on what you can do best, Lae you obviously prefer not bothering with Cleaving in fury spec, doesn't make you right and others wrong. As you stated your pretty new to fury so staying with single target spamming of heroic Strike maybe feels more comfortable to you than having to adjust to Cleaving.
Getting rage starved as fury is almost nigh on impossible regardless of if you cleave or spam HS, its just down to not being blind and knowing what your rage bar is doing.

If by new to fury you mean 'only played it for the entire last expansion'
Then yes I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about

Which was about 2 years ago, I levelled a mage in vanilla, pretty sure things are a bit different now.
