As for the movie, i've never watched it, and i'm determined never to do so, since i read all the books in the dark materia series and i really don't wish to have a movie not directed by the author change my memories of it since i really loved those books.
I'm sure the movie's good, but i'm not the kind that favors movies made of books, even if they have an extremly high budget and are wellmade, i don't enjoy them as much as the books.
